About Us

Our History

UniteAPI.dev was founded by Icarus and 404 in October 2021, with the goal of building a comprehensive database, guides, builds, and meta data for the Pokémon Unite community. Icarus led the frontend and data side, while 404 designed and built the player search and backend systems. As dedicated fans of the game, they recognised a need for a resource where players could look up information without having to launch the game itself. UniteAPI officially launched on January 1, 2022 with player search, followed by a full Pokémon database shortly after. MistrMatt joined the team in April 2022 to lead a complete redesign of the site, which is the experience you see today.

Meet the Team

MistrMatt
Co-founderSenior Fullstack Engineer

A senior software engineer with years of experience building mobile, web and backend applications, MistrMatt manages the web application, cloud infrastructure and database for UniteAPI. He originally came across the site as a Pokémon Unite player and, seeing an opportunity to improve it, reached out to Icarus about reworking the entire frontend. What began as a passion project grew into the site you see today.

Icarus
Co-founderData & Community

With a passion for game data and analysis dating back to 2002, Icarus has spent decades building informational databases and community tools. His journey took him through Final Fantasy XI and Final Fantasy XIV, where he contributed to Gamer Escape Wiki and built tools like ARealmRemapped.com, before eventually arriving at Pokémon Unite where he identified a clear gap in community resources and set out to fill it. Since then, he has expanded into developing sites for Harry Potter: Magic Awakened and mobile applications. Within UniteAPI, Icarus handles data analysis and ensures all information is accurate and accessible to every type of user, while also managing community support and social channels.
